1802 MARYLAND IMPRINTS
tled 'The Mammoth Cheese,' from Mr. I. Davis, I put it
to press, and after having had thirty six pages printed
off, I gave it to the author to correct he returned it
after a detention of four days in so mutilated a state,
and so much altered from the original state, that I
could not consider it the same work ... I find he has
entered into engagements with a Journeyman Printer, giv-
en him only a page at a time to print ... and that it is
this day published under a new title of !The Adventures
of the Mammoth Cheese'... I am in no way concerned with
the publication in question, and ... as it abounds with
a party spirit, I declare my unqualified disapprobation
of such a measure ... Henry Semple Keatinge."
