Dobbin took active parts in the organizations of
which he was a member. He was captain of the Patri-

otic Company of militia,79 and was Grand Orator and
Senior Warden of the Amicable Lodge of Freemasons in
Baltimore.80

The imprints of Glayland & Dobbin, and of Brother
Thomas Dobbin are on the Proceedings of the Grand
Lodge of the State of Maryland, 1797,81 and the
Minutes of the Proceedings of the Right Worshipful
