abatement of the epidemic, the removal to the former
location at 36 Market Street was effected.72 The
Telegraphe kept a strict, perhaps difficult, neutral-
ity in the hotly contested election of 1800, up to
lovember 1 when it made a definite statement that it
was aligned on the side of Jefferson73 - a decision
which was certainly not strange in view of the Irish
nationality of the editor.74

The date when the Telegraphe suspended publica-
tion is not certain; the last issue located is that
of February 6, 1807; it could not have lasted much
longer, for Dobbin died on February 10, 1808.75

His inventory, signed by John Haves and William
Pechin, lists the printing equipment necessary for a
daily city newspaper - probably little different from
the equipment which Dobbin used during the 1790fs:

1 printing press 70.00

1 bank 2.00

2 troughs 3.00

Lye tub & buckets 3.00

5 weights 8.00

13 chases 45.00

1 composing stone & frame 30.00

1 ditto small 5.00

1 Ten plate stove & pipe 16.00
1 Keg printing ink, 26 plb. 5 oz.

72 Telegraphe. October 20, 1800.

73 Ibid. November 1, 1800.
