Of the partisan in the files of the Telegraphe through
1800, and almost none of the bitterness which often
Invaded the editorials of the Federal Gazette, the
Intelligencer and the American. Rather, to quote an
editorial of Dobbin's, in the Telographe of November
17, 1797s
The printers have always steadily held in
view, one principle object, impartiality,
from which they are determined never to
derogate.
Clayland and Dobbin obtained considerable book
and pamphlet printing. In 1795, they printed Archi-
bald Buchanan's Oration, Composed and Delivered at the
Request of the Republican Society of Baltimore,62 and
Cases argued and Ruled at Nisi Prius, in the Courts
of Kingrs Bench, and Common Pleas, from Easter Term
S3 George III to Hilary Term 34 George III,65 the
latter for Ratinge's book store. During subsequent
years their book printing increased,
They obtained the printing of all the theatre
bills which have survived from the years 1795 and
1796; and here it may be mentioned that the Telegraphe
is the only Baltimore newspaper of the 1790's, after
William Goddard left the editorial chair of the Mary-
land Journal, which has been observed to include
