G. Duvall, in his article, "To the freemen of the
ffth district of Marylard," published" in part in
the federal gazette & Baltimore daily advertiser
of October 11, 1800, refers to this publication,
"At the meeting in Annapolis, he [Mr. Key] avowed
himself to be the author of the hand-bill, signed
'A friend to fair play.* It was published in
several different newspapers of the state."
In a signed article in the Maryland gazette
(Annapolis) of September 4, 1800, Philip B. Key
refers to "my handbill."
