Title from Brigham, p. 183: "A continuation of
Bartgis's Federal gazette, the volume numbering
being the same, but the title changing to
Bartgis's Republican gazette. The new title was
undoubtedly assumed in 1800, although the first
issue located is that of Feb. 11, 1801, vol. 8,
no. 30, whole no. 457, published by Matthias
Bartgis."
The Baltimore Telegraphe, Nov. 8. 1800. Quotes
"Prom Bartgis's Republican gazette", so the change
of title must have taken place before that date.
Listed under 1800 in G. C. Keidel's Early Mary-
land newspapers, p. 126.
