The newspaper, however, indicated its growing

prosperity and usefulness ty enlarging, on April 29,

1793. to a folio sheet. On that date Graham took

Leonard Yundt and William Patton into partnership.19

Yundt was torn about 1756 near the city of
Basle, in Switzerland. When he was about thirteen
years of age, he immigrated to this country and re-
sided in Philadelphia.20 learned the printing
business near that city,21 and about 1793 removed to
Baltimore to participate in the publishing of the
Repository.

third partner, William Patton. One may well suspect
a relationship between William Patton the newspaper
publisher, and David Patton, bookbinder, stationer
and bookseller in Baltimore from 1791 through Febru-
ary, 1794, when he formed a partnership with George
M'Dowell,22 and continued as Patton & M'Dowell until
the former removed to Philadelphia probably late in

1794. That David Patton may have carried on some
sort of printing in his establishment is evinced by
his advertisement of March 1, 1793, that
