published articles by Luxon are based on the latter
dissertation, "Hezekiah Niles, the Man and the Editor,"
in the June 1941 issue of the Mississippi Valley
Historical Review, and "Niles' Weekly Register - Nine-
teenth Century News-Magazine," in the Journalism
Quarterly of September 1941.
Michael Duffey, - Michael Duffey, printer of Fell's
Point, left his imprint upon only one pamphlet which
has survived, a Catholic Catechism called A Short
Abridgement of Christian Doctrine.92 Of that publica-
tion, only one copy has been located, at Georgetown
University, The character of this one imprint,
coupled with Duffey's decidedly Irish name, has led
to the conclusion that he was a Catholic.93
There is one other publication, a pamphlet of
twelve pages, without title page or imprint, which may
be identified as an output of the Duffey press. It
is William Reily's Courtship, Trial and Marriage;94
a rather long ballad of presumable Irish origin;
which appeared contemporaneously, in libretto form
oly, with slightly differing titles and texts. One
