The bulk of Jackson's estate.136 was left to his
nephew, Joseph Jackson, son of Joseph and Peggy Jack-
son who came from Westmoreland County, England, some
time during the summer of 1802, and settled in Wythe
County, Virginia. During his latter years, Jackson
must have kept a store in Annapolis. His inventory
did not make clear exactly what type of store it was,
but he probably sold a general assortment of merchan-
dise, especially hardware and groceries.137
Jackson was one of the less conspicuous Baltimore
printers of the 1790's, but together with John Smith,
he holds the distinction of having printed the second
Sunday newspaper in the United States - .the first
Sunday newspaper in this country which met with any
degree of success.
