published the Museum alone, In the May 28 issue, he
inserted an advertisement:

Wanted immediately at this office, a journeyman
printer. To one who can work at case and press,
constant employ and good wages will be given.

The advertisement gives no hint of Jackson's re-
linquishing the printing business in Baltimore. He
probably continued it at least through October of that
year, when he advertised Conversation Cards for sale131
But since no further trace of him is found in the city,
after that date, it may be assumed that he did not
carry it on much longer.

He probably went from Baltimore to Annapolis
where he was associated with Frederick and Samuel
Green, and later, Jonas Green, in the publication of

state documents and of the Maryland Gazette. Although
neither can be regarded as conclusive, there are two
reasons for this assumption:

1. In 1800, a Christopher Jackson appeared in the list
of subscribers from Annapolis", for the edition on the
Washingtoniana published by Samuel Sower.132 In 1795,
Christopher Jackson of Baltimore (it may safely be
assumed that it was the printer, since no other Chris-
topher Jackson appears to have been in the city at
that time) subscribed for a copy of the Works of

131 Federal gazette. September 28, 1797,

132 Appendix A. Imprint bibliography, item 635
(p. [305] of the imprint).
