The candidates to Congress were: 1st district, George Dent; and district, Joshua Seney; 3rd district, John Francis
Mercer; 4th district, Samuel Sterett; 5th district, John Done; 6th district, Abraham Faw. The Presidential electors were:
Thomas Johnson, John Rogers, George Plater, Jeremiah T. Chase, and Charles Ridgely on the Western Shore and John
Seney, Henry Waggaman, and James Shaw on the Eastern Shore. See number 484.

Samuel Chase promised Dr. Carroll to favor a bill in the Maryland legislature which would enable the Catholic Church
to legally secure the property belonging to it. Unfortunately for his political career, he was misunderstood by Dr. Carroll
as being in favor of a general law to incorporate all religious bodies. When this law failed to receive his support, an attack
on him was printed by Mr. Sewall.

Chase and M'Mechen state the rules for the conduct of the coming elections in the hopes that riots will not occur. The
town was divided into three districts, each voting on a different day. On the verso is a letter from Samuel Chase to the
voters of Baltimore concerning Doctor James M'Henry's conduct in the Constitutional Convention.
