CHAP. 83.
Name changed
|
4. And be it enacted, That the name of the said Mary
Snowden is hereby changed and altered unto the name of Mary
Bailey, and she shall at all times hereafter be called and known
by, and hold and use the name of. Bailey only, and by such name
shall sue and be sued in any court of law or equity.

All contracts
made by her to be
valid
|
5. And be it enacted, That all securities, promises, contracts,
assurances, deeds, and lawful acts whatsoever, hereafter to be
made and done by and to the said Mary Snowden, by the name
of Mary Bailey, shall be of the same force, validity and effect,
and of equal avail, to all intents and purposes, as if the name of
Mary Bailey had been the true and proper name of the said Ma-
ry Snowden from her birth, any law or custom to the contrary
notwithstanding.

CHAP. LXXXIV.
An Act to alter the time of holding the County Courts in Caroline County
at their March Terms.

Court to be held
on second Mon-
days in March and
October
|
Be it Enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the end of the next March term, the county
courts of Caroline county shall be held on the second Monday
in March, and the second Monday in October, in each and every
year hereafter, any law to the contrary notwithstanding; and all
causes, pleas, process and proceedings, civil and criminal, (after
the end of the next March term aforesaid,) then pending in the
said county courts, or hereafter to be issued therefrom, shall be
continued and returnable to the second Monday in March, and
the second Monday in October aforesaid, in the same manner-
they are now issued and made returnable to the first Monday in
March and the second Monday in October.

CHAP. LXXXV.
An Act, entitled, An act for the relief of the Sheriff of Caroline County,
and others, of said County.
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Caroline county be, and they are hereby
authorised and empowered, al their next annual meeting, to as-
sess and levy on the assessable property of said county, all sums
of money paid by Thomas Burchenal, sheriff, and others, of
said county, for a guard to the jail, for the safe keeping of cer-
tain criminals.

Sheriff to furnish
levy court with an
account
|
2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the said
sheriff to furnish the court with his account, and with a list of
the persons names, and the amount paid by them respectively,
properly authenticated, and the court may in their discretion,
levy as aforesaid, the amount, or so much thereof as they in their
judgment may think right and proper, to and for the use of the
aforesaid Thomas Burchenal, sheriff, and to and for the use of
the several and respective persons, who they may be satisfied
have paid as aforesaid, which money shall be collected and paid
over, as all county charges are now collected and paid over.
