CHAP. 49.

Society to deter-
mine amount each
person shall pay
on being admitted
member

6. And be it enacted. That the said society shall have power
to determine the amount in money which each person shall pay
on being admitted a member of said society, the amount of
monthly, quarterly and yearly contribution, which each mem-
ber of the society shall pay, and the fines which members shall
pay for violation of the laws of the society; to regulate the dis-
tribution of the funds of the society among the members and
their families, whom sickness or misfortune may render proper
objects of the benevolence of the society, in the manner pre-
scribed by the constitution and regulations thereof; to make
rules and regulations for the admission of members, and for the
expulsion of those whose misconduct may render them unwor-
thy to remain members of the society; and to make such other
rules and regulations as they may consider necessary and expe-
dient to accomplish the objects of the society, and are not repug-

nant to the laws of Maryland: Provided always, that no by-
law of alteration in, or amendment to the constitution, shall be
considered valid, unless proposed for consideration one month
before its adoption, and unless two-thirds of the members pre-
sent concur in such alteration or amendment; and that any one
who may consider himself aggrieved by any laws or regulation
of the society, may at any time withdraw therefrom, and cease
to be a member, on relinquishing all claim to the beneficial aid of
the said society, and to the contributions which he may have
paid thereto.

To be liable in
their individual ca-
pacity for debts

7. And be if enacted, That each and every person who may
become a member of this incorporation, shall be liable in his in-
dividual capacity for such of the debts of the corporation as may

be contracted during the term of his membership; Provided,
that no person who may hereafter cease to be a member of the
said corporation, shall, after the period of one year from the time
of his so ceasing to be a member thereof, be liable for such of the
debts of the corporation so contracted during the term of his
membership as aforesaid, unless an action be commenced for the
recovery of the same within the period of one year from the
time when the said debts, or any one of them, shall become due.

Duration

8. And be it enacted, That this act shall be and remain in
force until the first day of January, in the year of bur Lord eigh-
teen hundred and fifty, and until the end of the next session of
the general assembly of Maryland which shall be held thereafter.

Marriage annulled

CHAP. L

An Act for the relief of Michael DeYoung, of the City of Baltimore.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the marriage con-
tract between Michael De Young, and Mary De Young, is
hereby declared to be annulled and destroyed, and the said Mi-
chael De Young, is hereby declared to be divorced from his
wife Mary De Young, as entirely and to as full extent as if the
said Mary De Young were dead, or as if he the said Michael
De Young, had never been joined in matrimony with her;

Proviso

Provided, that nothing in this act contained shall operate to
render illegitimate any child or children of the said Mary De
Young which may be born before the first day of June next.
