CHAP 251

court where the offence shall be committed, or in Baltimore city
court, if in the city of Baltimore, notwithstanding any license
which may have been heretofore obtained to sell lottery tickets
within this state.

Clerk authorised
to grant licenses
&c.

2. And be it enacted, That the clerk of Baltimore city court,
and the clerks of the several county courts in this state, be and
they are hereby authorised, at any time after the passage of this
act, to grant a license to any person or persons to sell lottery
tickets authorised by the laws of this state, at any place or of-
fice in said city or counties, until the twenty-sixth day of De-
cember next ensuing, upon receiving for each license at the rate
of two hundred dollars per annum, if in the said city, and at
the rate of fifty dollars if in any of the said counties, and his
fee for issuing the same, which license shall be in force until

Proviso

the twenty-sixth day of December next ensuing the passage of
this act, and no longer; Provided, the person obtaining such
license shall assent, in writing to, and comply with, the provisi-
ons of the act, entitled, An act to regulate and restrain the sale
of lottery tickets within the state, passed at the present session
of the legislature, and the acts heretofore passed on that subject,
and as explained by this act.

Treasurer to bor-
row money to pay
for real estate, &c

CHAP. CCLII
An Act to provide for the payment of certain Real Estate in the City of
Baltimore.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the treasurer of the western shore be, and he hereby is
authorised and required, to borrow, on the credit of the state,
on the best obtainable terms, not exceeding the rate of five per
centum per annum, payable quarterly, a sum sufficient to
cover the amount of such real estate as may be valued and con-
demned, under the act, entitled, An act to provide for the va-
luation and condemnation of certain real estate in the city of
Baltimore, and the revenue arising from the inspection of to-
bacco is hereby pledged to pay the interest, and redeem the
principal, of the said loan ; provided that the same shall be re-
deemable at the pleasure of the state, at any time after ten years,
and that the premium arising from such loan shall be also in-
vested and reinvested for the eventual redemption of the said
loan.

CHAP. CCLIII.
An Act to repeal ft part of the Act therein mentioned, relating to Insolvent
Debtors in the City and County of Baltimore.

That the second section of the act, entitled, An act relating
to insolvent debtors, passed December session one thousand
eight hundred and twenty-fire, chapter two hundred and five,
be and the same is hereby repealed,
