or any two of them, shall thereafter exercise all the said pow-
ers, rights and privileges andi shall perform all the duties re-
quired to be performed by the said justices of the levy court
for Baltimore county, and no appointment of justices of the le-
vy court for Baltimore county, shall thereafter Remade; and all
the powers lawfully exercised by or vested in the commission-
ers of the tax for Baltimore county, and all the duties required
by law to be performed by them, shall be vested in and exer-
cised and performed by the said commissioners for Baltimore
county, after they shall have become qualified as aforesaid.

5. And be it enacted, That after the election and qualificati-
on of the said commissioners of Baltimore county, the mayor
and city council of Baltimore shall provide for making all such
appointments, assessing and levying all such taxes, and perform-
ing all such duties within the city of Baltimore, in every mat-
ter regarding the said city, and the property therein, as the levy
court of Baltimore county are now accustomed and authorised
to do.

6. And be it enacted. That the commissioners of Baltimore
county shall appoint a treasurer of the said county, who shall
give bond to the state of Maryland in the penal sum of ten thou-
sand dollars, with at least two sureties to be approved of by the
said commissioners, with condition that he will faithfully and
. honestly perform the duties of treasurer of Baltimore county,
to the best of his ability, and pay over and apply all monies
which shall come to his hands or care as treasurer, to such per-
sons, and in such manner, as the commissioners of Baltimore
county, or a majority of them, shall direct, and thai he will keep
and enter full and fair accounts of all monies received and paid
by him, and of all matters relating to his duties and office and
preserve the same, and all vouchers relating thereto, and deliver
up all the books, vouchers, papers and accounts, relating to his
said duties and office, when thereto required by the said com-
missioners, to such persons as they shall appoint to receive the
same; and the said treasurer shall hold Ms office during the plea
sure of the commissioners, and shall receive such compensation,
not exceeding; six hundred dollars per annum, as the commis-
sioners shall think proper to allow.

7. And be it enacted, That the commissioners for Baltimore
county shall appoint a clerk to attend at their meetings, make
minutes of, and record all their proceedings, and perform such
other duties as they shall from time to time require; he shall be
removable from office at their pleasure, and receive such Com-
pensation as they shall deem just, not exceeding two dollars per
day, for his attendance and services.

8. And be it enacted. That the commissioners for Balti-
more county aforesaid, shall be entitled to meet and transact
business in the same room in the court-house in the city of Bal-
timore, which is now used by the levy court of Baltimore
county; and they shall be entitled to receive into their care and
charge all the books, records and papers, of the said levy court,
and all monies, books of accounts, vouchers and other papers,
in the possession of the treasurer acting under the said levy
court, when the commissioners shall be qualified to aet as here-
