CHAP. 211

Company, or to their order, the fourth and fifth instalments re-
maining unpaid of the state's subscription to the capital stock of
the said company; and that the said treasurer be authorised and
required, for the payment of the said instalments, to borrow, on
the credit of the state, the sum of twenty thousand dollars, re-
deemable in three years, at the pleasure of the legislature, pro-
vided that the same may be obtained at a rate of interest not
exceeding five per centum per annum; and the faith of the
state is hereby pledged for the payment of the said principal,
and the interest thereon accruing, semi-annually, until paid.

CHAP. CCXII
An A.ct to provide for the valuation and condemnation of Water at, the mouth
of Cambridge Creek, in Dorchester County, for the ejection and establish-
ment of a Tide Mill.

Preamble

WHEREAS Joseph Entialls, of Dorchester county, has by his
petition to this general assembly represented, that the erection
and establishment of a tide mill at the mouth of Cambridge
creek, in said county, would conduce to the benefit of the citi-
zens of Cambridge, and of the neighbouring country, and it ap-
pearing that this representation is correct: And whereas it also
appears, that such a mill cannot be erected unless said Ennalls
have relinquished to him the right of the state to the water of
said creek, and the land which it covers, as far as "low water

mark; Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all the right and interest of the state in and to the water
of Cambridge creek, in Dorchester county, at the mouth of said
creek, as far as low water mark, and adjoining the land of said
Ennalls laying on said water, together with the land covered by
said water, be and the same is hereby granted to and vested in

said Joseph Ennalls; Provided, that said Ennalls shall, within
two years from the passage of this act erect the mill afofesaid;
And provided, that the dam or causeway of said mill shall con-
tain a sufficient lock or passage gate from the ingress and egress
of such boats, or other craft, as have been accustomed to pass
on said waters, which lock or passage gate shall be kept in re-
pair always hereafter at the proper cost and charge of said En-
nalls. his heirs or assigns; And further provided, that the right
and title of the state in and to said water, and the land it co-
vers shall revert to the state should said mill, though erected
within the time limited by this act, be suffered at any time there-
after to become useless

CHAP, CCXIII

An Act to alter and amend the third section of an act, entitled. An act to,
reduce into one the several Acts of Assembly respecting Elections, and
to regulate said Ejections.

State divided into

nine districts

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That for the purpose of choosing eleven electors of president
and vice-president of the United States, this state shall be and
the same is hereby divided into nine districts, which shall be
numbered from one to nine, in manner following? to wit: Cal-
vert county, Charles county, and Saint-Mary's county, shall
