AN ACT concerning

Prince George's County - Energy Tax

FOR the purpose of extending a certain termination date for the Prince George's
County energy tax; and repealing a certain obsolete termination date for the
energy tax.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Chapter 700 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1987, as amended by Chapter
244 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1989

244 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1989

Section 5

Preamble

WHEREAS, Chapter 700 of the Acts of 1987 authorized the Prince George's
County Council to impose a sales or use tax on energy or fuel used in Prince George's
County; and

WHEREAS, Chapter 700 of the Acts of 1987 was enacted subject to a termination
date of July 1, 1989; and

WHEREAS, Chapter 110 of the Acts of 1988 enacted a termination date for the
energy tax authority as recodified in Article 24, § 9-603 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Chapter 244 of the Acts of 1989 extended to July 1, 1990 the
termination date of the energy tax found in Chapter 700 of the Acts of 1987 and
Chapter 110 of the Acts of 1988; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of the General Assembly to extend the termination
date for the authority for the Prince George's County energy tax and to repeal the
