Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
Section 588

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1987 Replacement Volume and 1989 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

588.

Any person who shall commit any crime, offense or misdemeanor upon the waters
of the Chesapeake Bay, within the limits of this State, and without the body of any
county thereof, and all aiders, abettors, comforters and accessories thereof and thereto,
may be indicted and tried in any court of this State having jurisdiction of similar crimes,
offenses and misdemeanors, of the county in which he may be arrested, or into which he
may first be brought. [The provisions of this section shall not be applicable to §§ 4-1201
through 4-1207 of the Natural Resources Article of the Code.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is an
emergency measure, is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health
and safety, has been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take
effect from the date it is enacted.

AN ACT concerning

Reorganization of State Government - Archaeological Historic Property

FOR the purpose of transferring certain archaeological-related powers and functions of
the Maryland Geological Survey presently within the Department of Natural
Resources to the Maryland Historical Trust; repealing certain provisions of the
Maryland Geological Survey in the Natural Resources Article; transferring, with
modifications, certain provisions of the Natural Resources Article to Article 83B
of the Code; transferring the Division of Archaeology from the Department of
Natural Resources to become an Archaeology Office in the Trust with certain
employees and duties; transferring the Advisory Committee on Archaeology from
the Department of Natural Resources to the Trust with certain modifications;
providing for the number and terms of members of the committee; transferring
provisions relating to terrestrial archaeological sites and caves and the
