AN ACT concerning

St. Mary's County - Pensions - Obsolete Provisions

FOR the purpose of repealing, for St. Mary's County, certain provisions in the St.
Mary's Code of Public Local Laws relating to retirement benefits for certain
county employees; and limiting the application of this Act.

BY repealing

The Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County

Section 106-2, 106-3, and 106-4

Article 19 - Public Local Laws of Maryland

(1978 Edition and March, 1989 Supplement, as amended)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 19 - St. Mary's County

[106-2.

All employees of St. Mary's County, except those who are entitled to benefit
under another county or state retirement system and except those employees still
employed by the county, upon completion of twenty-five (25) years of service and
attaining age sixty-five (65), shall receive for the remainder of their lives a retirement
benefit of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.) per month from St. Mary's County,
payable by the County Commissioners from the general funds of the county. The receipt
of any earned income in excess of two hundred dollars ($200.) per month by persons
otherwise entitled to a retirement benefit hereunder shall reduce such retirement
benefit dollar for dollar. The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to adopt
rules, not inconsistent herewith, for the orderly administration of this retirement
system. Nothing herein shall be construed as creating any vested rights in present or
future employees of the county.]

The County Commissioners, in their discretion, may pay to any person appointed
and employed by or under the authority of the County Commissioners, who has
completed fourteen (14) years of service for the county, who has attained the age of
sixty-five (65) years of age and who retires from county employment, retirement
