AN ACT concerning
Stotc Police—Componsotion for Work on Ccrtoin Holidoys Law Enforcement Officers -
Miscellaneous Provisions
FOR the purpose of increasing the award the Governor may offer after a certain date for
certain information relating to the death of a law enforcement officer under certain
circumstances; requiring that certain law enforcement employees of the Maryland
State Police who are required to work on certain holidays receive overtime
compensation that is to be computed in a certain manner; making this Act an
emergency measure; and generally relating to law enforcement officers.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 41 - Governor - Executive and Administrative Departments
4-1001.
(a) The Governor is authorized to offer a reward in the name of the State of
Maryland for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person causing the
death of a law-enforcement officer of the State or of any political subdivision of the State
who is killed in the performance of his duties. Upon the request of the State's Attorney of the
political subdivision in which the death occurred, the Governor, ON OR AFTER MARCH 1,
1990, may fix, and announce a reward for the information in an amount not to exceed [five]
TWENTY-FIVE thousand dollars [($5,000)] ($25,000) in each case. The determination of
the Governor of the person or persons to whom a reward is to be paid is conclusive.
(b) Whenever the Governor has determined that any person is entitled to a reward as
provided by this section he shall include this sum of money in the f next] annual State
budget.
