(2) a title insurance company to examine and to insure titles to real
property; [or]

(3) a collection company to engage in the business of collecting or
adjusting commercial claims; OR

(4) A LAWYER WHO IS EMPLOYED ON A REGULAR SALARIED
BASIS BY A CORPORATION TO APPEAR ON BEHALF OF REPRESENT THE
CORPORATION BEFORE A COURT OR OTHER UNIT OF THE STATE
GOVERNMENT WITH THE SAME RIGHTS THAT ARE PROVIDED TO A
LAWYER IN PRIVATE PRACTICE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 629.

This bill expands the current law which prohibits the unauthorized recording,
distribution, sale, or showing for admission charge, of sound recordings to include
videocassettes or other technology which can record or store sound or images.

Senate Bill 249, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May
29, 1990, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
House Bill 629.
