SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 498.

This bill conforms to federal law by expanding the Maryland Medical Assistance
Program to children up to age 6.

Senate Bill 388, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May
29, 1990, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
House Bill 498.

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Medical Assistance Program - SOBRA

FOR the purpose of expanding coverage for comprehensive medical and health care
under the Maryland Medical Assistance Program to certain children; altering
certain age limitations and income standards; and generally relating to medical
assistance coverage for children.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Health - General
Section 15-103(a)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1990 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
