(House Bill 963)

AN ACT concerning

Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission - Merit System - Deputy

Chief

PG/MC 14-90

FOR the purpose of creating the position of Deputy Chief of the Prince George's
County Division of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission
Park Police; specifying that the Deputy Chief of the Prince George's County
Division is excluded from membership in the Commission's merit system; and
generally relating to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

Section 2-112(a) and 5-114

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1986 Replacement Volume and 1989 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 28 - Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

2-112.

(a) The Commission shall put into effect a merit system adopted pursuant to
this section. In it shall be included all employees of the Commission, except:

(1) [the] THE commissioners [and];

(2) [all] ALL appointed officials as provided in § 2-106 of this title; AND

(3) IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF
PARK POLICE AS PROVIDED IN § 5-114(B) OF THIS ARTICLE.

5-114.

(A) The Commission may appoint whatever park police officers as may be
necessary to provide protection for the Commission's activities and property. In
connection with the responsibility to provide that protection, it is the responsibility of
the park police to prevent crime, apprehend criminals, enforce the criminal and motor
vehicle laws of the State, enforce park regulations and perform whatever other related
