Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

2-504.

(a) The clerk of each circuit court shall receive an annual salary of not less than
$10,000 or more than [$45,000] $57,500 $60.000 as set by the Board of Public Works on
the basis of the relative volume of business and receipts in his office, provided that in
Baltimore City the clerk's salary may not be less than $12,000.

(b) A clerk shall devote his full working time to the duties of his office and is
entitled to the salary prescribed in subsection (a).

(c) The salary of a clerk is payable biweekly from the fees, receipts, and
emoluments of his office after deducting the necessary expenses of the office.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the registers of wills or the clerks of circuit
courts in office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
concerning the salary or compensation of the registers of wills and clerks of circuit
courts shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.

AN ACT concerning

State Police - Benefits - Surviving Spouses and Dependent Parents

FOR the purpose of providing a State benefit equivalent to federal Social Security
benefits for surviving spouses and dependent parents of former State Police who
die while in receipt of a special disability retirement allowance.

Section 53(n)(3)
