WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 537

(1) The Department's estimated cost of providing food and lodging to the
individual; and

(2) The estimated expenses incurred by the Department because of the
individual's participation in the work release program.

(d) (1) If an individual violates a condition or provision of trust established by
the judge or by the Howard County Department of Correction, the individual may be
removed from the work release program and any earned diminution of sentence may be
canceled.

(2) If an individual violates a term of leave permitted pursuant to the
authority provided under this section, it shall be considered a violation of § 139 of this
article.

(e) A prisoner employed in the community under the provisions of this section
may not be considered to be an agent or employee of Howard County, the Director of
the Howard County Department of Correction, or any other judicial or public officer of
the county.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.

(House Bill 109)

AN ACT concerning
Student Financial Assistance - Education of Physical and Occupational Therapists

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of "service obligation" under the laws
relating to tuition assistance for the education of physical and occupational
therapists so as to repeal the requirement that certain physical or occupational
therapists who had received tuition assistance during their training provide certain
services only to certain children under certain circumstances; requiring that the
service obligation be performed in certain areas of the State determined by the
Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene to be geographic areas of shortage; and
making certain stylistic changes
to include service performed in certain State
hospitals if a certain requirement is met; requiring a certain number of tuition
assistance awards to require a certain type of service obligation; and generally
relating to the tuition assistance program for physical and occupational therapists.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
