AN ACT concerning
Howard County - Hunting on Private Lands
Ho. Co. 20-90
FOR the purpose of requiring a person who comes to hunt in Howard County on land
owned by another person to obtain certain written permission; imposing liability
in certain circumstances on a person hunting on private land in Howard County;
protecting a landowner in Howard County from certain liability under certain
circumstances; providing penalties for certain violations of this Act; and generally
relating to hunting on private lands in Howard County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

10-411.
(a) Except as otherwise provided, a person may not come to hunt upon any
pretense whatever on lands owned by another person without the permission of the
landowner, his agent, or lessee. Any person hunting on private property shall be liable
for any damage he causes to the private property while hunting. The landowner is not
liable for accidental injury or damage to the person, whether or not the landowner, his
agent, or lessee gave the permission to hunt.
(b) (1) A person may not upon any pretense come to hunt on the lands owned
by another person without the written permission of the landowner, his agent, or lessee.
Any person hunting on this private property is liable for any damage he causes to the
private property while hunting on it. The landowner shall not be liable for accidental
injury or damage to the person whether or not the landowner or his agent gave
permission to hunt on it.
(2) The provisions of this subsection apply only in the following counties:
(i) Allegany County;
(ii) Anne Arundel County;
(iii) Baltimore County;
