Ch. 6 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(b) of this section, or any [rule or] regulation of the Department, on request the
Department may issue a permit to hunt 1 additional whitetailed deer to any person who:

(i) Is licensed to hunt deer under this title;

(ii) Has attained the whitetailed deer bag limit applicable to that
county during the same designated deer hunting season; and

(iii) Is a State resident and pays $2.

(e) (1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subtitle, a person with a
consolidated hunting license [may also] ALSO MAY purchase a second deer stamp
from the Department.

(2) The second deer stamp allows the person with the consolidated
hunting license to hunt 1 extra deer in each of the following hunting seasons for deer in
the State:

(iii) After July 1, 1989[,] regular firearms season.

(f) (1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subtitle, a person with a
basic hunting license and any individual hunting stamp [may also] ALSO MAY
purchase a second stamp from the Department.

(2) (i) Except as provided in item (ii) of this subparagraph, the second
deer stamp allows the person with the basic license to hunt 1 extra deer in each hunting
season for which the person has purchased an individual hunting stamp.

(ii) A second deer stamp:

1. [shall not] MAY NOT be available for regular firearms
season until after July 1, 1989; and

2. [shall] SHALL be issued in accordance with regulations
adopted by the Department.

(g) A person may not remove the head or hide or any part from any deer, except
internal organs, or cut the meat into parts until [it] THE DEER has been checked by
the Department or [one] 1 of [its] THE DEPARTMENT'S agents at a designated
checking station. Removal of the head or the hide of any deer[,] not checked at a
designated checking station shall be prima facie evidence that the deer was hunted
illegally. Each separate deer or part of any deer taken illegally or found in possession
shall be considered a separate offense.

(j) A person may not hunt a deer while [it] THE DEER is taking refuge in or
swimming through the waters of the State.

(a) (1) A person may not hunt deer in the State with any automatic firearm. In
this subsection, an automatic firearm means a firearm designed to fire, or which is
