8-129 of the State Finance and Procurement Article.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1990.

AN ACT concerning

Controlled Dangerous Substances - Schedules

FOR the purpose of including certain substances that are derivatives of a certain
controlled dangerous substance on a certain schedule of controlled dangerous
substances; and generally relating to schedules of controlled dangerous
substances.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
Section 279(b)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1987 Replacement Volume and 1989 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

279.

The following schedules include the controlled dangerous substances listed or to
be listed by whatever official name, common or usual name, chemical name, or trade
name designated.

(b) Schedule II - In determining that a substance comes within this schedule,
the Department shall find:

1. A high potential for abuse, and

2. Currently accepted medical use in the United States, or currently
accepted medical use with severe restrictions, and

3. Abuse may lead to severe psychic or physical dependence.

The following are controlled dangerous substances and are included in this
schedule:

a. Any of the following substances except those narcotic drugs listed
in other schedules whether produced directly or indirectly by extraction from
