WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 6

additional [three] 3 members to be appointed by the President of the United States and
which, together with the other commissions appointed as [hereinbefore] mentioned,
shall constitute and be known as the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River
Basin. The [said] Commission for the State of Maryland shall consist of the Governor
of the State and [two] 2 members to be named by the Governor, who shall be actual
residents in the Potomac River Drainage Basin. The terms of the members appointed by
the Governor shall be [two] 2 years, the first of [such] THE appointments of [two] 2
members to be made on June 1, 1939, and they shall serve without compensation, but
shall be paid their actual expenses incurred in and incident to the performance of their
duties as [hereinafter] set forth. This State shall contribute to the Interstate
Commission on the Potomac River Basin its [prorata] PRO RATA share of the
expenses of [said] THE Commission, which shall be [such] THE sums as may be
appropriate for the purpose in the State budget.

(B) The Governor of the State is [hereby] authorized and directed to execute a
compact on behalf of the State of Maryland with the other states and the District
[hereinabove] referred to, who may by their legislative bodies so authorize a compact in
form substantially as follows:

8-304.

The Governor of the State shall appoint an alternate member for each of the
[three] 3 members of the Commission for the State of Maryland created by § 8-303 of
this subtitle. Each alternate shall have power to act in the absence of the person for
whom he is alternate. The term of each alternate runs concurrently with the term of the
member for whom he is an alternate.

8-402.

(a) There is a Scenic and Wild Rivers Program. The following rivers, including
their tributaries, are [initially] included in the Program:

(1) [the] Anacostia[,];

(2) Deer Creek[,];

(3) Monocacy [,];

(4) Patuxent[,];

(5) Pocomoke[,];

(6) Potomac [River] (in Montgomery and Frederick counties)[,];

(7) Severn[,];

(8) Wicomico in Charles County[,]; and

(9) Youghiogheny.

(e) Upon completion of the plan, the Secretary shall submit [it] THE PLAN,
with any appropriate [recommendations] RECOMMENDATIONS, to:
