(House Bill 221)

AN ACT concerning

Vessels - Certificate of Boat Number - Outstanding Warrants

FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Natural Resources to refuse to issue,
renew, or transfer certificates of boat number for certain persons who are the
subject of outstanding warrants for violations under the State Boat Act until the
person complies with certain provisions of law.

Section 8-712(h)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1983 Replacement Volume and 1989 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Natural Resources

(H) IF ANY CURRENT OWNER OF A VESSEL OR AN APPLICANT FOR
A CERTIFICATE OF BOAT NUMBER HAS AN OUTSTANDING WARRANT
FOR FAILING TO APPEAR IN COURT TO ANSWER A CHARGING
DOCUMENT ALLEGING A VIOLATION UNDER THIS SUBTITLE, THE
DEPARTMENT SHALL REFUSE TO ISSUE, RENEW, OR TRANSFER THE
CERTIFICATE OF BOAT NUMBER FOR THE VESSEL UNTIL THE PERSON
CHARGED HAS COMPLIED WITH THE PROVISIONS OF § 1 205 OF THIS
ARTICLE;

(H) IF A PERSON WHO APPLIES FOR THE ISSUANCE OR RENEWAL OF A
CERTIFICATE OF BOAT NUMBER FOR A VESSEL HAS AN OUTSTANDING
WARRANT FOR FAILING TO APPEAR J N COURT TO ANSWER A CHARGING
DOCUMENT ALLEGING A VIOLATION UNDER THIS SUBTITLE, THE
DEPARTMENT SHALL REFUSE TO ISSUE OR RENEW THE CERTIFICATE OF
BOAT NUMBER FOR THE VESSEL UNTIL THE PERSON CHARGED HAS
COMPLIED WITH THE PROVISIONS OF § 1-205 OF THIS ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1990.
