THURSDAY, May 9, 1861.

The House met, and was opened with prayer, by the Rev.
Mr. Seymour.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Ford, Worthing-

ton, Denison, Quinlan, Renshaw, Jones, of Talbot, Chap-

lain, Long, Lawson, Keene, Holland, Miller, Bryan,
Jones, of Prince George's, Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing,
Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler, Routzahn, Johnson, Salmon,
Naill, Straughn, Goldsborough, Warfield, Brune, Winans,
Pitts, Harrison, Thomas, Sangston, Morfit, Scott, Wilson, of
Harford, Bayless, McCoy, Coudy, Eakle, Brining, Fiery,
Stake, Griffith, McCleary, Harding, Gordon, Roop, Gorsuch,
Mills, Turner, Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Miller presented the petition Joseph R. Thomas and
seventy-three other citizens of Cecil, against the passage of
the Public Safety Bill.

Mr. Fiery presented the petition of several hundred citi-
zens of Washington county, on the same subject;

Mr. Wilson presented the petition of Henry G. Waters and
others of Harford, on the same subject.

Mr. Bayless presented the petition of Henry Ruff and
other citizens of Harford, on the same subject;

Which were read and severally referred to the Joint Spe-
cial Committee of Conference of the House and Senate.

Mr. Sangston offered the following :

Ordered, That the committee on Claims be instructed to
pay to Robert M. McLane, Otho Scott and Wm. J. Ross,
each the sum of one hundred dollars for their expenses as
Commissioners to Washington, under a joint resolution pass-
ed May 2, 1861;

Which was adopted.
