EVENING SESSION, 4 o'clock.

The House met.

Present at call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Welch, Mackubin, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess,
Worthington, Denison, Quinlan, Renshaw, Jones, of Talbot,
Chaplain, Long, Lawson, Holland, Maxwell, Bryan, Jones,
of Prince George's, Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Kessler,
Routzahn, Salmon, Naill, Straughn, Brune, Winans, Pitts,
Harrison, Thomas, Wallis, Sangston, Morfit, Scott, Bayless,
McCoy, Coudy, Eakle, Brining, Stake, Griffith, Harding,
Gordon, Barnard, McCleary, Roop, Gorsuch, Mills, Turner
and Brown.

On motion of Mr. Quinlan,

Leave was granted the Committee on Claims to introduce
a bill providing for the payment of Samuel Jackson, for exe-
cuting an order, under resolution, No. 5, passed by the Gen-
eral Assembly, March 10th, 1860.

On motion of Mr. Mackubin,

Leave was granted a special committee of three to bring in
a bill to provide for the appointment of keeper of the furnace
of the new record office a Annapolis, and of the chief and
assistant engineers in charge of the heating apparatus at-
tached to the State House.

Mr. Wallis, chairman of the Committee on Federal Rela-
tions, made the following report:

To the Honorable,

the Speaker of the House of Delegates of Maryland:

The Committee on Federal Relations, to whom was referred
the communication of his Excellency, the Governor, enclos-
ing a report of the proceedings of a meeting of the citizens of
Weverton, in Frederick county, respectfully ask leave to
report:

That they have inquired into the facts of the case, to which
the said proceedings had reference, and find them to be sub-
stantially as follows :

A small number of the troops of the State of Virginia
having reason to believe that considerable quantities of arms,
