mission of certain acts by the authorities or citi-
zens of the State of Virginia infringing the rights
of the citizens of Maryland, and the honor of the
State, be instructed to report, that a messenger
be appointed by joint resolution of the Senate and
House of Delegates, to communicate with the Gov-
ernor of Virginia, with reference to the subject
matter of said messages, and report to the Gener-
al Assembly, whether or not certain citizens of
Maryland, during the fire at Harper's Ferry, went
over to Virginia, and appropriated and brought
to this State certain arms from Harper's Ferry ;
laid on the table, 39; report made on the proceed-
ings of a meeeting at Weverton, and adopted, 53;
resolution reported appointing a commissioner to
the authorities of Virginia to negotiate upon the
subject of complaint, and read a first time, 53;

Resolution, that a committee of one from each
county of the State and two from the city of Bal-
timore, be selected as delegates to the convention
to be held at Frankfort, Kentucky, in reponse to
her call, to consider the present crisis in our coun-
try, and in connection with Kentucky and the
other slaveholding States in convention, endeavor
to work out an adjustment of our national trou-
bles, referred to, 42.

to re-opening the various channels of trade and

Response of the Governor to the second request
of the House to be furnished by him with a copy
