The House met at one o'clock, P. M., pursuant to ad-
journment.

Upon the call of the roll, no quorum being present, on
motion, the House adjourned until to-morrow, at ten
o'clock, A. M.

FREDERICK CITY, Sept. 20, 1861.

Previous to the proceedings of the 17th inst., a, number
of the members of the House and Senate were arrested,
under order of the Federal Government, and imprisoned.

Upon that day, and subsequently, other members of the
House and Senate, together with the chief officers of the
two branches, with some of their assistants, were also ar-
rested and imprisoned, by authority of the Federal Gov-
ernment.

After the discharge of the officers, a sufficient number
of members of the House and Senate were retained in con-
finement to prevent the assembling of a quorum, and I
do hereby close the Journal.
