The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following. Senate
bill entitled,
An act to amend Article XVIII of the Code of Public
General Laws, by adding thereto sections giving to the
Clerks of Circuit courts and the Superior court of Balti-
more city and the court of Common Pleas, the power to take
superscdeas of judgments and decrees rendered in said courts;
Which was read and referred to the Judiciary committee.
Alsoy a resolution authorizing the hoisting of the national
flag on the building, now occupied by the General Assembly
of Maryland;
Which was read.
Also returned House bill entitled, an act for the relief of
David Knotts, one of the securities upon the official bend of
Alexander Knotts, late Sheriff of Caroline county:
Endorsed "passed by yeas awl nays."
Also a bill entitled, an act to pay Alien G. Quynn a sum
of money for articles furnished troops protecting Frederick
Barricks, under order of the Governor;
Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."
The Speaker Md before the House an invitation from II.
Winchester, Esq. to the members of the Senate and House
of Delegates to attend a musical entertainment, to be given
at the Frederick. Female Seminary, this evening at eight
o'clock.

The invitation was accepted
Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, offered the following preamble
and resolutions:
"WHEREAS, We hold those truths to be self-evident, that
all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable rights; that amongst these
are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure
these rights, governments are instituted amoug men, deriving
their just powers from the consent of the governed; that
whenever any form of government becomes destructive of
these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it,
and to institute a new government, laying its foundations
on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form
