Mr. Compton, chairman of the committee on Military Af-
fairs, presented the following
REPORT:
The committee on Military Affairs, to whom was referred
the memorials of George E. Austin, and others; Richard
H. Jackson, and others; asking that such action be taken by
the Legislature as would require a certain Hooper C. Hicks
to deliver up to the Captain of a cavalry company known as
the Dorchester Dragoons, certain cavalry arms, the property
of the State of Maryland, now in his possession, beg leave to
submit the following report, and ask its adoption by the House:
WHEREAS, it appears to this House, that certain cavalry
arms, the property of this State, are at present in the posses-
sion of a certain Hooper C. Hicks, of Dorchester county; and
whereas, it appears further, that a cavalry company known
as the Dorchester Dragoons, being uniformed, inspected and
commisssioned om conformity to the law of the State, and
therefore entitled, upon the execution of a satisfactory bond,
to receive at the bands of the Adjutant General their propor-
tion; provided any suck arms are in the armories of the
State or at the disposal of the Adjutant General; therefore,
Ordered, That the Adjutant General be, and he is hereby
required to report forthwith to this House, what number and
kind of arms, (if any,) belonging to this State are now in the
possession of or subject to the order of Hooper C. Hicks, of
Dorchester comity, and by what authority he holds the same-
