Said bill was then sent to the Senate.
Mr. Kessler offered the following order

Ordered, That the committee on Claims inquire into and
report to this House what amount would be a proper compen-
sation to our commissioner who visited Virginia, and report
to this House by bill or otherwise;

Which was read and adopted.

Mr. Wallis, from the select committee, reported a bill en-
titled, an act to amend article IV of the Code of Public Laws
relating to the city of Baltimore, by authorizing the Board
of Police of said city to cause the closing of bar-rooms, bars,
drinking houses and liquor shops in said city, and the sale
or furnishing of liquor thereat when necessary for the pre-
servation of the public peace;

Which was read the first, and by special order the second
tinue.

On motion of Mr. Brining,
The House, at 2 o'clock, adjourned.
