EVENING SESSION.

THURSDAY, June 20th, 1861

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, from the Committee on Finance,
reported the following:

A bill, entitled, An act appropriating a sum of money for the
payment of the claims of James E. Tate, John H. Emerson and
A. G. Qullett;

Which was read the second time.

Mr. McKaig offered the following:

Ordered, That three members of this body be appointed by the
President, whose duty it shall be to report to the Senate some
rule by which the attendance of absent members of this body may
be compelled, in such manner and under such penalties as the
Senate may prescribe.

Mr. Duvall moved to lay the order on the table.

The yeas and nays being demanded appeared as follows:
