On motion of Mr. Smith,

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that the absence of
the Hon. Charles F. Goldsborough, the Senator from Dorchester
county, is caused by sickness.

On motion of Mr. Bradley,

Leave was granted Messrs. Bradley, Stone, and Goldsborough,
of Talbot, to report a bill to amend the 18th Article of the
Code of Public General Laws, by adding thereto a section, giving
to the Clerks of the Circuit Courts, and the Superior Court of
Baltimore city, and the Court of Common Pleas, the power to
take supersedeas of judgments and decrees rendered in said Courts.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, from the Committee on Finance,
reported favorably on a bill, entitled,

An act to pay Alien G. Quynn a sum of money for articles
furnished troops protecting Frederick Barracks, under order of
the Governor;

Which was read the second time.
On motion of Mr. Smith,

Leave was granted the Committee on Judicial Proceedings to
report a bill to amend and modify the Stay Law.

On motion of Mr. Whitaker,

Ordered, That the Governor be, and ne is hereby, respectfully
requested to furnish the Senate, at his earliest convenience, with
a statement of the facts which induced him fo reclaim the arms
formerly confided to certain military companies of Baltimore city;
also, with the reasons why said arms were sent by his order to
Fort McHenry; and, alto, what security he has lor the restoration
of said arms, when demanded by the proper authorities of Mary-
land.

Maryland Militia
