WALKER, PHILIP (?-1791). BORN, after 1740,
probably in Dorchester (later Caroline) County.
NATIVE: second generation. RESIDED: in Dor-
chester (later Caroline) County. FAMILY BACK-
GROUND. FATHER: Philip Walker (?-1776), an
Anglican minister who was licensed to Maryland
on March 25, 1756. He received the bounty on
April 8, 1756, and was appointed to All Hallow's
Parish, Anne Arundel County, on May 4, 1760.
On October 12, 1760, he was appointed to St.
Mary's, Whitechapel Parish, Dorchester County.
Walker was also a merchant. MOTHER: Elizabeth
(?-by 1756), widow of Anthony Richardson,
daughter of James Dickinson (?-1738) and wife
Hannah Coale. AUNTS: Mary Dickinson (?-by
1765), who married Pollard Edmondson (ca. 1718-

April 27, 1727, in St. Anne's Parish, Anne Arun-
del County. NATIVE: at least second generation.
RESIDED: in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County
(in the Tasker/Dulany mansion on Market Street,
1793 to at least 1804); also maintained a country
estate in Anne Arundel County by at least the
early 1800s. FAMILY BACKGROUND. FATHER: John
Wallace of Annapolis. MOTHER: Anne. SISTERS:
probably at least two, including Mary (?-1797),
who married Cornelius Howard (1728-1771).
NIECE: Rebecca Howard (1758-1806), who mar-
ried Alexander Contee Hanson (1749-1806). MAR-
RIED first, Catherine (ca. 1731-1795), sister of
Mary, who probably married (first name un-
known) Cummings. MARRIED second, on April 26,
1798, Mary (ca. 1747-1834), widow of George
Rankin (?-ca. 1783), daughter of Constantine
Bull of Norwich, Norfolk County, England, and
wife Catherine Walker of Northrop Hall, near
Dallam, Yorkshire, England, A Constantine Bull
resided in Maryland from at least 1748 until at
least 1772, and could have been either Mary's
father or brother. Mary Bull Rankin was living
in Annapolis by 1784, when she advertised for
pupils to learn reading, needlework, and lace-
work. In 1788 she declared herself an insolvent
debtor. Mary and Charles Wallace signed a mar-
riage agreement on April 25, 1798, in which Mary
agreed to give up her right of dower to Wallace's
property in return for his house, plate, furniture,
slaves, £2,000.0.0, and an allowance of £200.0.0
