1790), one half of a lot in Port Tobacco, 1786;
purchased 840 acres in Charles County, 1792-
1804; patented 985 acres in Charles County, 1794-
1803; sold at least 669 acres between 1793 and
1798, an additional 492 acres between 1801 and
1805, and his lot in Port Tobacco, all in Charles
County. He was charged on the 1798 federal as-
sessment with 1,091 acres in Charles County, in-
cluding three dwelling houses. WEALTH AT DEATH.
DIED: will proven on April 1, 1812, in Charles
County; interred at his estate "Equality" near
Port Tobacco. PERSONAL PROPERTY: TEV, at least
$4,693.89 current money (including 8 slaves, plate,
and 200 books on law, history, philosophy, and
