son, Sr. (?-1739/40), of Elk River, Cecil County.
MOTHER: probably Jane. BROTHERS: Edward;

probably Rachel. MARRIED Rebecca. She subse-
quently married by May 26, 1742, Rev. William
Wye. CHILDREN. SON: Edward, a minor in 1736.

JOHNSON, THOMAS (1732-1819). BORN: on
November 4, 1732, near St. Leonard's Creek,
Calvert County; second surviving son. NATIVE:
third generation. RESIDED: in Annapolis until ca.
1779; "Richfield," and later "Rose Hill," Fred-
erick County, ca. 1776 until death. FAMILY BACK-
GROUND. FATHER: Thomas Johnson (1702-1777)
of St. Leonard's Creek, Calvert County. MOTHER:
Dorcas (1705-1770), daughter of Joshua Sedg-
wick. BROTHERS: Thomas (1725-1725); Benja-
min (1727-1786); James (1736-1809), who mar-
ried Margaret Skinner; Joshua (1742-1802), the
London partner of the Annapolis mercantile firms

Wallace, Davidson & Johnson, 1771-1776, and
Wallace, Johnson & Muir, 1781-1790, the Amer-
ican consul in Nantes, France, and agent for
Maryland in France during the Revolution,
American consul in London in the 1790s; John
(1745-1811), a physician in Frederick Town; Baker
Johnson (1747-1811); and Roger (1749-1831),
who married Elizabeth Thomas. SISTERS: Mary
(1729-1801), who married Walter Hellen, Esq.,

of St. Mary's County and Robert Sanders (?-
1755) of Anne Arundel County. Her aunt was
Ann Sanders (ca. 1705-1785), who married Darby
Lux (ca. 1698-1750). Her sisters were Elizabeth
(1735-by 1768); Rebecca (1737-by 1768). Her
first cousins were William Lux (by 1730-1778);
Darby Lux (?-1795); Ann Baldwin, who married
Samuel Chase (1741-1811); and Hester Baldwin
(?-1823), who married Jeremiah Townly Chase

who married first, Charlotte Hesselius, and sec-
ond, Elizabeth Russell; James; and Joshua.
