SIDED: in Caroline County, 1774; Sussex County,
Delaware, by 1775. FAMILY BACKGROUND. FA-
THER: William Bradley (?-ca. 1784), of Dorchester
County, who died in Delaware. BROTHERS: Wil-
liam (?-ca. 1814); Joseph (?-by 1814); and Jacob
(?-ca. 1775), of Caroline County. SISTERS. Nancy

merchant of London, England. MARRIED Sarah,
(1677-?), daughter of Richard Hall (?-1688). Her
brothers were Elisha Hall (1663-ca. 1716/17);
Joseph (1665-1705); Benjamin Hall (1667-1721);
and Aaron (1669-1704). Her sisters were Rachel
(1671-1730), who married Walter Smith (?-1711);
Elizabeth (1673-1743); and Lucia (1675-?), who
married John Smith (?-1738). CHILDREN. SON: Ro-
bert, a justice of Prince George's County from
1729 to 1731/32, who married (first name un-
known), daughter of Clement Hill, nephew and
heir of Clement Hill (?-1708). PRIVATE CAREER.
EDUCATION: literate. RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION:
Presbyterian. SOCIAL STATUS AND ACTIVITIES: he
had important mercantile connections; he was
prosecuted in 1694 for violating the Navigation

BRADNOX (BRADNOCKS, BRODNOX),
THOMAS (ca. 1599-1661). BORN ca. 1599, prob-
ably in England. IMMIGRATED: on Kent Island, by
1637/38. RESIDED: in Kent County. MARRIED
Mary (?-1674), who subsequently married ca.
1664 John Vicaris (?-ca. 1669), and finally, Fran-
cis Pine (?-by 1674). CHILDREN. Died without
progeny. PRIVATE CAREER. EDUCATION: illiterate.

RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION: Protestant. SOCIAL STA-
TUS AND ACTIVITIES: in 1642 he had the third
highest assessment of seventy-one men on Kent
Island; Mr., by 1647/48; Gent., by 1652/53; usu-
ally owned at least two or three servants, whom he
notoriously mistreated; he was one of the most
disreputable men in the colony; raised Francis
Mauldin (?-1710/11) for six years before Maul-
din's mother reclaimed him in 1659/60. OCCUPA-
TIONAL PROFILE: planter. PUBLIC CAREER. LEGIS-
