Joint Resolution relating to that part of the
boundary line between Maryland and West
Virginia from the Fairfax Stone to the Mason
and Dixon's line.

WHEREAS the General Assembly of Maryland
did by the act of eighteen hundred and sixty,.

Preamble.

chapter three hundred and eighty-five, adopt
by law as the northwestern line of this State
the line surveyed in eighteen hundred and
fifty-nine by the Commissioners appointed
by the State of Maryland and by the State of
Virginia under the authority of laws passed
by said respective States; and

WHEREAS said line which now divides the
State of Maryland from the State of West
Virginia has not yet been adopted by law
by said last-mentioned State, and some con-
flict of jurisdiction and authority must arise
by reason of such omission; therefore,

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Governor of this State be
requested to bring the subject to the attention
of the Governor of the State of West Virginia,
and to request him, in the exercise of his good

judgment, to invite the attention of the Gen-
eral Assembly of West Virginia thereto, to the
end that said Honorable Body may consider
the matter as soon as practicable, and take
such action as may conform to the conclusions
reached by said Commissioners and as may pre-
vent any conflict of jurisdiction between the
States of West Virginia and Maryland and con-
firm their friendly relations.
