SEC. 48. Fourth. To acquire by purchase or in
any other manner, and take receive, hold, use,
employ, manage, mortgage, dispose of, or in any
manner not inconsistent with law, deal with any

in or out of this State, which may be necessary
or proper to enable said corporation to carry
on the operation or fulfill the purposes named
in this certificate of incorporation, and gen-
erally to do every other actor thing not incon-
sistent with law which may be necessary or
proper to promote the objects, designs and pur-
poses for which said corporation was formed.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act contained shall authorize the incorpora-
tions of electric light companies for the pur-
pose of carrying on business or conducting op-
erations in Baltimore city.

Effective.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 307.
AN ACT to provide for the appointment of a
Commission to inquire into and report to the
next General Assembly, as to the propriety
of establishing an Agricultural Experiment
Station, and to appropriate a sum of money
to pay the expenses of said Commission.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That a Commission of
six persons be and the same is hereby estab-
lished, to be appointed as follows: Two per-
sons engaged in agriculture, one from the
Western Shore and one from the Eastern
-Shore, to be named by the Governor; one
person by the Faculty of the Johns Hopkins'
