CHAPTER 302.
AN ACT to provide for the preparation of a
Code of Public General and Public Local
Laws of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That John Prentiss Poe-
be and he is hereby appointed Codifier to pre-
pare and submit to the next General Assembly-

a Code of Public General and Public Local
Laws of Maryland, including the acts passed
at this session, upon the general plan of the
Code of eighteen hundred and sixty, with
references to the original acts of Assembly
and the decisions thereon of the Court of Ap-
peals.

Commission.
|
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That.
with the draft of said Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws he shall submit to the next Gen-
eral Assembly for their consideration, such
proposed amendments of the several articles
and sections thereof as he shall deem desir-
able; provided, that at least four months be-
fore the meeting of the next General Assem-
bly, the Code so prepared, and the amendments-
proposed, shall be submitted to a Commission,
of three lawyers in active practice, of recognized
ability and learning, to be designated or se-
lected by the Court of Appeals, whose duty-
shall be to examine carefully and critically
the work so submitted, and report to the next.

Appropriation.
|
General Assembly in the first week of its ses-
sion, the result of their examination, with
such comments and recommendations as they
may deem pertinent and proper; and for such
service each member of said Commission shall
be paid five hundred dollars, and the sum of
fifteen hundred dollars is hereby appropriated
for said purpose.
