CHAPTER 145.
AN ACT to incorporate the Provident Savings
Bank of Baltimore.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That James Carey, Fran-
cis T. King, Joseph P. Elliott, William Num-
sen, John S. Gilman, James Carey Coale, Charles
Markell, James C. Thomas, M. D., John A.
Thompkins, Jesse Tyson, Ira Remsen, William
W. Janney, John R. Gary, Isaac Brooks, jr., and
James Carey, jr., and such persons as shall
hereafter become Directors thereof, shall be
and they are hereby constituted a body corpo-
rate and politic, by the name of the Provident
Savings Bank of Baltimore, and by that name

shall have perpetual succession, and be capable
in law to hold and dispose of property; to sue
and be sued in Courts of Law, Equity, and in
any other place; to receive and make all deeds,
transfers, contracts and conveyances and grants
whatsoever; to have and use a common seal,
and the same to change, alter and renew at
pleasure, and generally to do every other act
or thing necessary to carry into effect the pro-
visions of this act, or to promote the objects
or designs of said corporation.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the general
business and object of said corporation shall
