more than three hundred dollars and costs of prosecu-

tion; or instead of such fine imprisonment in the
|
|
|
|
county jail for thirty days, or both, in the discretion
|
|
|
|
of the court; and on the second and every subsequent
|
|
|
|
conviction not less than two hundred nor more than
|
|
|
|
five hundred dollars, or instead of such fine impris-
|
|
|
|
onment in the county jail for sixty days, or both, in
|
|
|
|
the discretion of the court, and on failure to pay the
|
|
|
|
fine as herein described he, she or they shall be com-
|
|
|
|
mitted to the county jail of Dorchester county until
|
|
|
|
such fine and the costs are paid; one-half of the fine
|

imposed for any violation of this act shall go to the in-

|
|
|
former, and the residue to the board of county school
|
|
|
|
commissioners of said county for the benefit of the
|
|
|
|
public schools therein.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
|
|
|
|
of the sheriff of Dorchester county to make proclama-
|
|
|
|
tion of the election in same manner and time as other
|

elections held in this state, under penalty, in case of

|
|
|
neglect or refusal to perform such, as is now provided
|
|
|
|
in the election laws of this state.

|
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all prosecutions for

the violations of the provisions of this act may be
|
|
|
|
either upon presentment and indictment or by trial
|
|
|
|
before a justice of the peace, who shall have jurisdic-

tion original and concurrent with the circuit court

of said county; provided that any person who shall

feel himself or herself aggrieved by a decision of a

justice of the peace in every case shall have the right

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
