LAWS OF MARYLAND.


Chapter 308


AN ACT to give the consent of the State to the


purchase of certain lots of ground, not to exceed


one acre, in the city of Havre de Grace, by the


United States of America, for the purpose of


erecting a building for a Post Office, Custom House


and other Public Offices, and to cede to the United


States of America jurisdiction over the same.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly


of Maryland, That the consent of the State of Mary-


land is hereby given to the purchase, by the United


States of America, of any lots or parcels of ground

in the city of Havre de Grace, not to exceed one acre,


for the purpose of erecting a building for a post office,


custom house and other public offices of the United


States of America.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That jurisdiction over


the said lots or parcels of ground, after the same shall


have been lawfully conveyed to the said United States

ceded, &c.

relinquished to the United States of America, over


the said lots or parcels of ground so far as, that all


civil and such criminal process as may issue under the


authority of this state against any person or persons


charged with crimes and misdemeanors committed


without said lot or parcels of ground, may be executed


therein in the same way and manner as though this


cession had never been made and granted; and that


the land over which the jurisdiction is granted by


this act, together with all the buildings and personal


property which is or may be hereafter within the

be exempted, exonerated and discharged from all


state, county and municipal taxes, so long as the said


lot or parcels of ground shall remain the property of


the United States of America, for the purposes afore-


said.
