Chapter 43.

AN ACT authorizing the Trustees of Saint Charles

College to convey three acres of ground to the

Archbishop of Baltimore for the purpose of a cem-

etery for the congregation of Saint Mary's Church.

WHEREAS the trustees of Saint Charles College, in

Howard county, in the State of Maryland, were, by

the acts of assembly, eighteen hundred and twenty-

nine, chapter fifty, duly created a body corporate, and,

by the same act, were authorized to hold lands, either

by gifts, devise or purchase, for certain purposes

therein designated, not to exceed the whole yearly

value of six thousand dollars; and whereas it was

further expressly declared by the said act, the prop-

erty, real and personal, to which it referred, or any

other property subsequently acquired by said corpo-

ration, could only be used for the trusts and purposes
set forth in the said act of assembly, eighteen hundred

and twenty-nine, chapter fifty, and could not be alien-

ated or transferred for any other purpose; and whereas

the said trustees of Saint Charles College did, in the

month of April last, eighteen hundred and eighty-

three, accept a gift of twenty acres of land, to be

added to their present property, on the express condi-

tion that they would convey to the archbishop of

Baltimore a certain portion, say three acres, of the

same, for the use of a cemetery for the congregation

of Saint Mary's church, in Howard county; now,

therefore —

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the trustees of Saint Charles

College be and the same are hereby authorized to con-

vey to the archbishop of Baltimore three acres of the

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
